Genus: Anaphalis is the Greek name for everlasting
Species: margaritacea means 'pearly' or 'pearl-like'
aka Western Pearly Everlasting. The common name refers to the flowers ability to maintain its color and beauty when dried for ornamental purposes, thus "everlasting". Usually found in clumps with stems rising to 3' (90 cm). Small tubular flowers form the yellow button, or disk, in the center which is embraced by pearly white papery bracts. While not blooming until midsummer they last well into the fall. Very common and found alongside roads, rocky slopes and disturbed areas to 6,000' elevation. (ref. Blackwell)
