aka Caltha leptosepala ssp. howellii. Biflora means 'in pairs' and it is more likely that this variety would have two flowers per stem than the Elkslip Marigold, ssp. leptosepala. The C. biflora leaves are also more round in shape. Therefore, in all liklihood, the flowers featured here are not C. biflora but additional views of Elkslip Marigold. This is a beautiful location to view marsh marigolds and subsequent visits will verify the variety and document two pair flower stems if they exist there.
