Genus: Saxifraga from Latin saxum 'rock' and frango 'to break'
Species: odonotolma means 'tufted'
aka Streambank Saxifrage. This species has similiar leaf shape characteristics to Merten's Saxifrage (S. mertensiana) and Nelson's Brook Saxifrage (S. nelsoniana) in that they are round and have toothed edges. The featured flowers could actually be one of the other species. Raising above the mat of leaves are slender branched stems, 1/2' - 1 1/2' (15 - 45 cm) which support multiple tiny white flowers, 1/8" - 1/4". Usually found along streambanks, seeps, moist forest clearings to about 5,500' elevation. (ref. Biek, Blackwell)
