Genus: Heuchera after Johann von Heucher, German professor of medicine
Species: glabra means 'smooth'
aka Alpine Alumroot, Smooth Heuchera. Extremely small flowers with white petals along long stems 6 - 24" (15 - 60 cm). The leaves are heart-shaped and longer than broader forming a base for the long whispy stems. Easy to overlook and could be confused with the foamflowers. Nevertheless an important plant for it is said that the Tlingit used it to cure inflammation of the testicles (ref. Pojar). Common along streambanks, rock crevices, roadcuts, mossy talus slopes to 5,000' elevation.
