aka Slender Rein-orchid, Platanthera saccata, Habenaria saccata. The alternate specie name, saccata, means sac-like or bag-like and refers to the lower petal with a swollen spur. There may be as many as thirty of the small waxy flowers, 1/4" -1/2" (7 - 14 mm) along the upper half of the stem, which may reach 3 ft. The leaves are lance-shaped and extend up the stem more than most orchids. Common in wet places to 5,000' elevation. (ref. Clark, Blackwell)
