Species: sitchensis refers to Sitka Alaska
aka Cliff Romanzoffia, Sitka Romanzoffia. Photographed here in the rain, the mistmaiden's 'golden eye' is a distinctive characteristis of this small bell-shaped white flower which is about 1/2" (1 cm) across. Loose clusters of a few flowers can be found at the end of stems reaching to 10". The leaves are round to kidney-shaped with five lobes and appear somewhat fleshy. Somewhat uncommon (in Rainier); found in wet rocky areas in low to middle elevations. (ref. Biek, Pojar)
