Notes:

Northern Microseris, Microseris borealis

Family: Asteraceae - SUNFLOWER FAMILY, ASTER FAMILY (Compositae)
Genus: Microseris from Greek micro 'small' and seris, 'a lettuce-like plant'
Species: borealis means 'northern'
aka Apargidium, Apargidium boreale, Bog Microseris, Northern Silverpuffs. A single bright yellow flowerhead sits atop leafless stems which are 4" - 20" (10 - 50 cm) tall. The flowerheads are made up of a dazzling array of just ray flowers and are 1" - 1.25" long with blunt jagged tips. The basal leaves are lance-shaped and about one-third as tall as the stem. Listed as "sensitive." Fairly common is the Park's wetter places, meadows, in the upper forest zone, subalpine zone. (ref. Biek, Pojar)
