aka Caltha leptosepala ssp. howellii.White Marsh-marigold. Biflora means 'in pairs' and it is more likely that this variety would have two flowers per stem than the Elkslip Marigold, ssp. leptosepala (see subalpine zone). The C. biflora leaves are also more round in shape. The flowers featured may not be C. biflora but Elkslip Marigold. However, Elkslip Marigolds are usually at higher elevations. The elegant marigold flower is about 1.5" (3.5 cm), and is stunningly white. Found in wet, marshy places above 4000' elevation. (ref. Biek, Blackwell)
