Notes:

Foamflower, Tiarella unifoliata and T. trifoliata

Family: Saxifragaceae - SAXIFRAGE FAMILY
Genus: Tiarella means 'little tiara' for turban-like headdress
Species: unifoliata mean uniform, trifoliata means three leaf
aka Coolwort, Sugar Scoop, Three-leaf (or cut-leaved) Foamflower. The prinicpal difference in the two varieties is the cut of their leaves; T. unifoliata (featured flower) has simple 3 - 5 lobed maple-leaf like leaves wheres T. trifoliata has deeply cut clearly three lobed leaves (see alternate view). The flowers are extremely delicate and are a mere 1/8" - 1/4" (2 - 4mm) branching off stalks that are 1/2 - 1 1/2' tall. Very common in moist areas and along trials below 8,000 ft.
