Notes:

Creeping Raspberry, Rubus lasiococcus

Family: Rosaceae -ROSE FAMILY
Genus: Rubus means bramble, blackberry, and suggests red for 'ruby'
Species: lasiococcus means 'hairy berry'
aka Dwarf Bramble, Roughfruit Berry. A friendly bramble - no prickles! A key distinction is that the leaves have three lobes, are broad, rough, finely toothed and are one to one and a half inches across (2 - 4 cm). Leaves with five lobes could well be the related Rubus pedatus also called "creeping raspberry" in some sources (ref. Clark). The solitary flower can be striking with its five petals surrounding a cluster of many reproductive parts for unlike most roses it is unisexual (only stamens or pistels, not both). Common in the upper forest zone up to 6,500 ft. (ref. Blackwell)
